Rouge Sang Violette Carrot Seeds

Dark green foliage, roots squat and conical with an interesting and unusual red and violet skin. A real "rustic carrot" from France, well suited to difficult locations.

Cultivation: Sow forcing carrots in February and March, and again in July. The larger kinds should be sown in April in lines 1ft apart, the seeds being covered with a mere coating of soil. Thin to 6ins apart in the first instance, and as soon as the roots are large enough to draw for table, thin to 1ft apart. By this method of procedure, the table will be supplied with plenty of delicate young carrots during the summer, and the roots left for winter store will be of the finest quality.

The Sandringham Seed Collection: Thomas Etty Seeds started in Kent in the 1980s and have been providing Sandringham with various heritage seed mixes for some years. The Head Gardener has collaborated with the company to provide a collection of seeds from plants grown in the gardens. Now you can grow your very own Sandringham Garden!
