Italian Giant Parsley Seeds

By 1800: "Dark green flat leaves type. Resembles celery. Strong sweet parsley flavour."

Cultivation: The seeds should be sown from March in drills 1ft apart and covered with fine mould to the depth of about 1/2in. They take a month or more to germinate. In dry weather the seed-bed should be frequently watered and when the young plants are sufficiently strong they may be thinned out, first to 3ins apart in the row  and afterwards, when rather further advanced, to 6is from each other. In gathering for use, the largest and best leaves are picked off singly.

The Sandringham Seed Collection: Thomas Etty Seeds started in Kent in the 1980s and have been providing Sandringham with various heritage seed mixes for some years. The Head Gardener has collaborated with the company to provide a collection of seeds from plants grown in the gardens. Now you can grow your very own Sandringham Garden!
